EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University softball team and head coach Jaime Wohlbach have announced the hiring of Gillian Walsh as the program's assistant coach. Walsh officially began her role on June 22.
"Gillian brings a lot of knowledge, energy, and passion to the team. Her passion for the game, ability to build relationships, and commitment to excellence makes her an outstanding addition to our program. She will make an immediate impact on our student athletes," said coach Wohlbach.
Walsh graduated from Rutgers University in May 2023 with a bachelor's degree in Sport Management where she was a member of the Division I softball team for two years. Before transferring to Rutgers, she spent two years at Kutztown University also competing as a member of the softball program. She was a local product from the Lehigh Valley where she received several first team honors in high school.
Since 2022, Walsh has specialized in pitching and catching development and worked with hitters all over the northeast. She has been leading bullpens, managing team practices, and working on mechanics, skill development, and game strategy in all areas of the game. Walsh delivered winter prospect camps featuring current collegiate athletes, focused on high-level skills and mechanics designed to prepare athletes for college softball. She was the head coach of a competitive travel softball program, overseeing pitching programs, bullpen workouts, player development, practice planning, game management, and long-term athlete growth.
Walsh also brings experience in collegiate athletics through internships with the Rutgers Athletics Marketing Department and Monmouth Athletics Operations. At Rutgers, she assisted with promotional and marketing initiatives for athletic events and game-day experiences. During her time at Monmouth, she oversaw student workers, coordinated equipment setup for all spring sports, and managed bat testing for the softball program.
While at Rutgers, Walsh served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). She represented fellow student athletes focusing on the athlete's experience and campus involvement.
In January 2026, Gillian became an ISSA Certified Strength and Conditioning Trainer through Iron Core Nazareth Strength.
Since August 2024, she has been a District Sales Manager with ADP in Allentown, Pa. where she manages client relationships and develops strategic partnerships within a competitive sales environment. Prior to that, she spent time at the New York Red Bulls Sales Academy.
"I am excited to join the ESU Athletics department, coach Wohlbach, and support staff. The ESU softball program is recognized both regionally and nationally, and I am thrilled to become a part of it," said Gillian. "I look forward to helping our student-athletes reach their full potential as they continue to succeed both on and off the field."
