WALTHAM, Mass. — The ESU field hockey team completed its trip through the Northeast with two wins, defeating Adelphi yesterday and shutting out Bentley today, 3-0.
NOTABLES
- Senior forward Rylie McGrath continued to pace the Warriors in scoring, netting two goals today and assisting on ESU's third tally. The co-captain is already at 14 points on the season, scoring six goals and two assists.
- McGrath assisted freshman forward Emily Dobrowolski on the third goal of the game for the Warriors, scoring early in the fourth quarter. Dobrowolski is now at seven points with three goals and an assist through her first four career games.
- Maddie Moline picked up another assist, factoring in on McGrath's first goal. She's now gone back-to-back games with an assist, accounting for both of hers on the year.
- Junior back Megan Rafter picked up both of her first two career defensive saves, the first of the year for any ESU defender in 2026.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Not much happened in the first quarter, as the first 12 and a half minutes largely didn't feature any chances for either side. The Warriors were able to open the scoring 12:32 in, with Moline finding McGrath to break the tie. ESU kept pushing as the second quarter began, with Moline and Rafter both getting looks to double the Warriors' lead. However, it was McGrath again, unassisted this time, scoring 14 minutes after her first goal to make it 2-0.
- Bentley had a couple of looks in the second half to make it a closer game, but that's when Rafter stepped in defensively. Her first save came on Lilly Cook halfway through the third quarter, preventing a second-chance opportunity from going in after senior goalkeeper Jet Vermeulen made the initial stop on Cook. Second one was the opposite sequence, as Rafter made her second save in the opening two minutes of the fourth quarter, then Vermeulen stopped the follow up chance, as Bentley's Layla Conway couldn't get the Falcons on the board.
- Immediately after the second defensive save, the Warriors transitioned up the field and created a look of their own. McGrath assisted Dobrowolski to make it 3-0 with just under 13 minutes remaining, putting the game away.

The Warriors aren't done with their stretch of road games just yet, as they'll hit the road again to travel to Pace for a midweek game. ESU takes on the tied-10
th-ranked Setters at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16, in Pleasantville, N.Y.
