EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — In its first match on home court in 2026-27, the ESU women's tennis team took down Post on Monday afternoon, 5-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Warriors breezed through doubles play, securing the point early with two quick wins.
Jenna Kastell and
Ariel Kelsick defeated Ana Vasilis and Juana Espana in the top matchup, 6-1, and
Lea Stefanovic and
Elessa Jacobs bested Julie Merlin and Savannah Croft by the same score in the second match. Completing the doubles sweep,
Audrey Conover and
Bega Gotor came out on top against Laura Kotala and Bintu Drame, 7-5.
ESU would get four of the six singles wins in the second half of the dual, starting with Jacobs sweeping Kotala, 6-0, 6-0. Kastell and Conover followed suit with controlling wins, as Kastell beat Espana, 6-0, 6-2, and Conover won against Drame, 6-1, 6-3. Merlin and Croft picked up wins for Post, with the former defeating Kelsick, 6-3, 7-5, and the latter beating Gotor, 6-4, 6-4, but Stefanovic got the final win of the dual for the Warriors. From the top spot in singles play, she defeated Vasilis, 4-6, 6-0, 10-2 for the comeback victory.
UP NEXT
The Warriors have one more dual before a stretch of tournaments, hosting Drew later this week. The dual begins at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Wolbers Courts.
