Ian Allen returns to the ESU baseball program as a graduate assistant in 2018-19 following a standout playing career for the Warriors.

Allen was a four-year starter at ESU who contributed as an outfielder and starting pitcher. He was a three-time All-PSAC and two-time All-Region performer who holds school records in stolen bases (101) and walks (109) as a batter and strikeouts/9-innings (10.8) as a pitcher. He also ranks second at ESU in RBIs (132) and runs scored (162) and he is third in home runs (18).

The East Aurora, N.Y., native’s top offensive season came as a senior, when he hit .368 with a .472 on-base percentage, eight homers, 45 RBIs and 34 steals. As a junior, Allen set a PSAC record with 36 stolen bases out of 40 attempts. He added a career-best 47 RBIs as a sophomore in 2015.

Allen’s sophomore season was his best on the mound, as he went 5-2 with a 4.20 earned-run average and 56 strikeouts in 49 1/3 innings. He started 28 games in his collegiate career and managed an overall record of 13-6.

Outside of baseball, Allen was a Dean’s List student at ESU who also spent one year on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. He was additionally an active participant in ESU baseball’s involvement with Team IMPACT, sponsoring a child with cystic fibrosis and teaching him the basics of baseball.

Allen graduated from ESU in May, 2017 with a B.S. in applied mathematics (finance concentration). He is working towards a master’s degree in exercise science.
