David Castillo, a four-year starter and first team All-PSAC East cornerback for the Warriors as a senior in 2010, joins the ESU coaching staff as defensive backs coach for the 2018 season.
Castillo was previously head football coach at East Stroudsburg North High School in 2017. He was also an assistant coach at Wilkes in 2016, and has additional coaching experience in football and basketball in the East Stroudsburg North school district.
Following his career at ESU, Castillo competed in semi-professional football for the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks (2012-15), NEPA Miners (2012-14) and Erie Explosion (2014).
Castillo started 38 games in his career at ESU from 2007-10, finishing with nine interceptions and 36 pass breakups for 45 passes defensed. He led the PSAC at 1.45 per game (3 interceptions, 13 breakups) as a senior. He helped the Warriors to a 9-2 record as a sophomore in 2008, and 8-4 record and NCAA DII Playoff appearance in 2009.
Castillo earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from ESU in 2014.
