Holman Copeland, ESU’s graduate assistant for the 2007 and 2008 seasons, returned to the program as the Warriors' defensive line coach and video coordinator under head coach Denny Douds in 2011.

Copeland was the defensive backs coach at New Haven in 2010 as the Chargers won the Northeast-10 Conference championship. He coached Desmond Anderson, an All-Region cornerback who led Division II with 0.78 interceptions per game, as part of an 8-2 team that shared the NE-10 championshp and ranked second in the conference in scoring defense. He was also an assistant special teams coach and assistant academic advisor.

Copeland spent the 2009 season as the defensive coordinator and secondary coach at Harry S Truman in Levittown, Pa. He also assisted with the defensive line and coached the running backs on offense.

A 2006 graduate of Clarion and a 2009 graduate of ESU with a Master’s degree in Sport Management, Copeland was a defensive back at Clarion for three seasons and earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications before coming to ESU as the graduate assistant.

During his two years as the graduate assistant at ESU, Copeland assisted Douds and his coaching staff with all aspects of the program, including scouting, film breakdown, recruiting, strength and conditioning, academic progress, fundraising and travel. He also ran the scout teams for offense and special teams.
