James Daniels

James Daniels completed his second season as the defensive backs coach with the East Stroudsburg football program in 2021.

In each of his first two seasons, he has guided an All-PSAC selection, with safety Tyler Watson (2021, All-PSAC East First Team) and defensive back and Andre' Gray (2019, All-PSAC East Second Team) honors. His secondary has combined for 16 interceptions the past two seasons. 

Daniels has participated in the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship each of the past three seasons, joining the Pittsburgh Steelers for training camp in 2022 along with the Denver Broncos in 2021 and 2020.

Prior to joining the East Stroudsburg staff, he spent the previous year coaching the nickels and linebackers at the University of Dayton. He also spent time coaching the defensive backs as a graduate assistant at the University at Buffalo in 2018, and was the defensive backs coach/recruiting coordinator in 2017.

Daniels also has experience coaching running backs at Notre Dame College (OH), Ohio Northern University, and Becker College. He started coaching in 2014 as the defensive quality control coach (safeties) at Towson University in Towson, Maryland.

As an undergraduate, Daniels was a member of the football team at the University of Mount Union. While at Mount Union, he was a 2008 NCAA Division II National Champion and helped his team finish as the national runner-up in 2009,  2010 and 2011. 

Daniels earned his Bachelor’s degree in Sport Business with a minor in Business from Mount Union in 2011. He earned his Master's in Curriculum and Instruction in August 2014.
