COLLEGEVILLE - Junior Laura Beimfohr hit the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark in the pole vault and senior Rose Mascoli won the 3000m in her season debut to lead East Stroudsburg University at the Ursinus Indoor Classic on Friday.
Beimfohr cleared 11-5 3/4 to reach the NCAA provisional standard for the third straight indoor season. Beimfohr placed second in the event and is ESU's record holder both indoors (11-9 3/4) and outdoors (11-8 1/2).
Mascoli, an All-American in track and cross country in her career at ESU, was one of five individual winners for the Warriors. She won the 3000m in 10:41.17 for a margin of victory of just eight-hundredths of a second in her first competition since cross country season.
Sophomore Christina O'Connor, who hit an NCAA Division II provisional qualifier in the high jump last week at Kutztown, won for the second straight week with a mark of 5-3 3/4. She cleared 5-7 3/4, tied for third-best in Division II, a week ago.
Other winners were sophomore Damien Boham in the 400m (50.17), senior Mike Saparito in the 800m (1:57.79) and sophomore Donovan Tolbert in the triple jump (47-8), just off his provisional mark of 47-9 in the season opener at Lehigh in December.
The Warriors also won three relays, two on the women's side and one for the men. All six ESU relays finished in the top three.
