EASTON – Senior Matt Tholis hit the NCAA Division II automatic qualifying mark in the javelin with a school-record throw of 226-5, and redshirt senior Josh Hontz hit the provisional mark at 207-3 to lead East Stroudsburg University at the Lafayette 7-Way Meet on Saturday.

Senior Corinne Fitzgerald also hit the NCAA provisional standard in the 3000m steeplechase in 10:55.25 for the Warriors in their second meet of the outdoor season.

Tholis broke the previous record of 225-4 held by Hontz, the national runner-up in 2011. His previous PR was 213-7, which he threw to finish seventh and earn All-America status at the NCAA Championships last year. He threw 197-4 last week at Washington & Lee.

Hontz had a 30-foot improvement from his mark of 174-10 last week, which came in his first competition since the 2011 NCAA DII Championships.
