PHILADELPHIA - East Stroudsburg University's women's 4x200m relay set the school record and the men's 4x2 and 4x4 relays both ran outstanding times as the Warriors competed on Friday in the 119th Annual Penn Relays at historic Franklin Field.

Sophomore Danielle Smith anchored the 4x2 in a time of 24.1 seconds as the Warriors ran a time of 1:40.85, the second-fastest among Division II schools in the field. Junior Rachel Pierantozzi (25.7), senior Lauren Ventrella (25.4), junior Brittany Jones (25.3) and Smith broke the school record of 1:41.62 set in 2002.

The men's 4x2 ran ESU's third-fastest time in school history (1:27.35) and was the third-fastest DII finisher, placing 21st of 45 schools overall. The Warriors were fifth in their heat and finished ahead of Division I Syracuse.

The men's 4x4 ran ESU's fourth-fastest time and was third of eight schools in the Wetzler/Pennsylvania Relay, one of the meet's marquee events. The Warriors were the fastest of four PSAC schools in Kutztown (5th), Bloomsburg (7th) and West Chester (8th) and edged DI schools St. Joseph's (4th) and Lehigh (6th). Temple won in 3:13.27 and Lafayette was second in 3:14.65. ESU won back-to-back Wetzler/PA titles in 2010 and 2011.

In the 4x2, sophomore Kyle Rickard opened in 22.3, followed by junior Keith Parker-Washington (21.7), sophomore Brett Yeomans (22.2) and sophomore Mark Burgess, who anchored in 21.0.

Rickard led off the 4x4 in 49.4 with Parker-Washington running 48.7, sophomore Damien Boham turning in a lap of 47.4 and senior Mike Saparito on the anchor in 49.8 seconds.

The Warriors had six individuals and the women's 4x4 compete on Thursday. Their individual entrants produced two school records - senior Frank Fezza in the men's 10K (30:16.22) and senior Corinne Fitzgerald in the women's 3000m steeplechase (10:37.95) - and four NCAA DII provisional qualifiers from Fezza, Fitzgerald, senior James Romano (men's steeplechase) and sophomore Christina O'Connor (women's high jump).
