William Berry won the high jump for his third career PSAC championship as East Stroudsburg University completed the 2016 PSAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday afternoon at Edinboro.
Berry cleared 6-9 3/4 on his third and final attempt at the height to claim his first PSAC indoor high jump title, after winning consecutive outdoor titles in 2014 and 2015. He was runner-up indoors the last two years.
On Saturday, graduate student
Travis Toth won his third career PSAC title and second in the weight throw with a mark of 60-7 1/4.
Berry and Toth both have NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks that should secure their spots on the NCAA DII Championships, which will be held March 11-12 at Pittsburg State (Kansas).
Both were the top seed in their events, Berry at 7-0 1/2 (t-3rd in DII) at Kutztown on January 15 and Toth at 62-11 1/4 at ESU's DeSchriver Invitational on February 6.
ESU's men finished third of 13 schools in the meet with 70 points, recording their 15th straight top-four finish since the start of the 2009 indoor season. ESU has finished in the top three at eight of the 15 PSAC Indoor Championships (first contested in 2002).
ESU's women were ninth of 16 schools with 32 points. The Warriors' weekend was highlighted by the 4x800m relay of freshman
Victoria Matthews, sophomore
Samantha Young, junior
Lauren Toth and sophomore
Kaylyn West, which set school, meet and facility records in a time of 9:23.48.
Women's ResultsFive Warriors scored in their events on Sunday, along with a fifth-place finish from the 4x400m relay.
Freshman
Marissa Flim was sixth (7.83) and senior
Tirzah Johnson seventh (7.85) in the 60m dash, both improving their prelim times by one spot from Saturday. Both times are PR's and rank fifth and tied for sixth, respectively, in school history. Johnson had her sixth career individual scoring effort and first in the sprints, scoring four times in the triple jump and once in the long jump.
West scored in both the mile (7th - 5:07.30) and 800m (8th - 2:19.42) within about 90 minutes after anchoring the record-setting 4x800m relay on Saturday. West's times rank fourth at ESU in the mile and fifth in the 800.
Senior
Chelsea Conover was eighth in the mile (5:09.62) for her first career PSAC scoring performance on the track.
Junior
Allison Decker was ninth in the 3000m (10:18.50), just missing a scoring spot. She was fourth in the 5000m (17:14.85), an NCAA DII provisional time, on Saturday.
The 4x4 relay of freshman
Leiana Dean, sophomore
Jaid Harsch, Matthews and sophomore
Danielle Swingle was fifth in 3:58.24, a top-10 time in school history.
On Saturday, along with the winning 4x8 relay, the Warriors were fifth in the Distance Medley Relay with Young, Conover, freshman
Brianna Thomas and Swingle running 12:42.61.
Men's ResultsBerry won his first PSAC indoor title on his final attempt, clearing 6-9 3/4. A miss would have reverted back to the last cleared height (6-8 3/4), where Shippensburg's Tra-C Davis cleared on his first attempt and Berry on his second. Berry took three shots at 6-11 1/2 after securing the PSAC crown.
ESU's men have won five of the last six PSAC high jump titles with Berry claiming the 2014 and 2015 outdoor titles, along with 2016 indoors. Seth Bailey won 2013 outdoors and 2014 indoors.
Two Warriors were runner-ups Sunday in junior
Steven Morgan in the 60m hurdles and senior
Derrick Washington in the 400m.
Washington ran an indoor PR (49.27), fourth-fastest in school history, to finish second. He was the top qualifier in the prelims (49.38) after entering the weekend 11th on the entry list. Washington was the 400m outdoor champion last spring at Eiler-Martin Stadium and scored for the fifth time individually.
Morgan just missed his fourth career PSAC hurdles title, finishing second in 8.28 behind Kutztown's Anthony Bullaro (8.27). Morgan won the 110m hurdles outdoors as a freshman and sophomore (2014 and 2015) and was the defending 60m hurdles champion indoors. He ran the top time in the prelims (8.21).
Senior
Adam Robertino was fourth in the 60m hurdles with a PR of 8.38, which ranks seventh at ESU. He scored for the fifth time at ESU and the third straight time in the 60 hurdles. His previous career-best PSAC finish was fifth at the last two outdoor championships.
Freshman
Akeim Thomas, the top seed entering the weekend (8.13), was second to Morgan in the prelims (8.29) but false started in the finals.
Freshman
Khai Samuels was sixth in the 800m in 1:57.06, a PR of almost three seconds.
Senior
Alec Lederer placed seventh in the 3000m, his second PSAC scoring effort after placing sixth in the 3000m steeplechase last spring. His time of 8:44.10 is a PR and ranks ninth at ESU. He entered as the No. 13 seed in the field.
Junior
La Treil Ridgeway was fifth in the triple jump with a PR of 46-9 (ESU's #8 mark) for his second PSAC top-eight finish.
Senior
Eric Conard was sixth in the heptathlon with 4,414 points, just off his PR of 4,455 which ranks third at ESU. Conard scored in the multis for the fifth time in his career, including the 2015 decathlon title.
The 4x400m relay finished the meet with a fourth-place finish with junior
Robert Garvey, Thomas, sophomore
Juwaan Walker and Washington running 3:19.05.
On Saturday, the 4x800m relay (freshman

Sean Hagerty had his first PSAC scoring mark in the long jump, placing fifth (22-0 3/4).
