Seton Hill (40-18), the No. 5 seed, is eliminated after winning 3-0 vs. Shepherd and falling 2-1 vs. Millersville in its first two games.

Four teams are remaining after Saturday's action. No. 1 Millersville hosts No. 2 Mercyhurst in the winners bracket on Saturday night. (Update: postponed to 12 p.m. Sunday)

The Warriors won for the second straight day, posting a 19-2 win vs. Chowan on Friday, after a 6-3 loss to No. 3 seed Mercyhurst in their opener on Thursday night.

ESU head coach John Kochmansky, in his ninth season, set the Warriors' program record with his 261st career win.

Holup (6-2) faced the minimum of 18 batters through six innings, retiring 15 straight after a two-out walk was erased in the bottom of the first inning.

He finished with a three-hit, one-walk, one-HBP performance after Seton Hill's Garret Vrbanic broke up the no-hit bid with a leadoff single in the seventh. The Warriors cut down Vrbanic on a double play, and Holup threw a 1-2-3 inning in the eighth before a pair of leadoff singles by Taylor Schmidt and pinch-hitter Colton Carney turned over the SHU lineup in the ninth.

Crookham, ESU's All-PSAC East first team shortstop, entered for his third appearance of the season. He struck out Vrbanic, SHU's leadoff hitter, for the first out, issued a walk to All-PSAC West first team first baseman Zac Heide to load the bases, struck out All-PSAC West first team catcher Anthony Fanelli and retired All-PSAC West second team designated hitter Chris Miller on a groundout to redshirt junior 2B Jay Young to seal the victory.

Holup improves to 6-2 in 13 appearances (nine starts) this season and 15-8 in his career at ESU. Crookham picked up his second save of the season and the third of his career in six relief appearances.

ESU scored its runs in the first, second and seventh innings, capitalizing on leadoff baserunners in each frame.

Young opened the game with a leadoff single, moved to second on a balk and scored on a one-out RBI single by redshirt junior OF Robert Bennie, the PSAC East Athlete of the Year, to put the Warriors ahead 1-0 three batters into the game.

In the second, Crookham walked, stole second, moved to third on a throwing error by the catcher and scored on a two-out RBI double by sophomore DH Christian Rishel for a 2-0 advantage.

The score remained 2-0 until the seventh, with Holup sitting down 15 Griffins in order in the second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

ESU extended its lead to 3-0 on a leadoff walk by redshirt senior 3B Drew Hercik and a one-out RBI double by redshirt senior 1B Matt Walewski.

Seton Hill starter Tyler Morder (6-3) threw 6.1 innings, allowing three runs on four hits with four strikeouts and one walk.

SHU reliever Jesse Cooper allowed just one hit to the first batter he faced, the RBI double by Walewski.

Holup and Crookham three-hit a lineup that was averaging 7.8 runs per game with a .323 batting average, .415 on-base percentage and .541 slugging percentage (8th in DII).

The Griffins' first five batters, all All-PSAC West selections, combined to go 1-for-16 with just Vrbanic's leadoff single in the seventh.

ESU had five hits from Young, Bennie, Crookham, Walewski and Rishel.

The Warriors drew three walks, setting a PSAC record for walks in a season (287) and surpassing the previous record of 284 set by Kutztown in 2001.
