EAST STROUDSBURG – Henrik Berg scored a pair of goals five minutes apart early in the second half, breaking a scoreless tie in an ultimate 3-1 victory for Seton Hill over East Stroudsburg University at Eiler-Martin Stadium on Friday.

The Warriors (9-5, 6-4 PSAC) fell to the Griffins (7-3-5, 3-2-3 PSAC) despite an 18-9 advantage in shots. Junior Mateo Laredo-Fernandez provided the lone goal for ESU off a free kick in the 79th minute.

Seton Hill goalie Austin Iddon had the game's only two saves during a goalless opening half. Berg opened the scoring 4:17 after the intermission, deflecting a long-distance shot from Louis Mason past senior goalie Will Boerema.

Graduate student Nico Gericke was inches away from leveling the score in the 54th minute, as his header off a free kick rang off the crossbar. The Griffins then doubled their advantage on the ensuing rush, as Berg tapped-in a cross from Alex Dysen to complete the counter attack.

Mason added more insurance for the visitors on a well-struck free kick into the top right corner in the 76th minute.

Laredo-Fernandez broke the shutout three and a half minutes after Mason's strike. Senior Jo Panuccio took a free kick which was touched on by senior Brandon Levano to the foot of Laredo-Fernandez, who tucked a low shot into the right corner. He now has three goals on the year, while Panuccio and Levano picked up their fourth and third assists, respectively.

The visitors held ESU without a shot for the remainder of the contest. Seton Hill snapped a three-game winless streak against the Warriors with tonight's victory.

ESU returns to action on Wednesday night, traveling to Bridgeport for a non-conference contest beginning at 5 p.m.

Note:

Boerema, Gericke, Panuccio, Levano, senior Eddy Enowbi, graduate student Jordon Ellison and senior Steven Robak were all recognized in a ceremony prior to the final home game of their collegiate careers.
