EAST STROUDSBURG - Senior catcher Steven Zimmerman, Jr. repeated on the first team, sophomore pitcher/outfielder Carson Freeman was named first team utility and freshman third baseman Brock Kauffman earned second team recognition, giving East Stroudsburg University three selections on the 2018 All-PSAC East baseball team, released Tuesday.

Zimmerman is honored for the third straight year, gaining second team mention as a sophomore in 2016 before a pair of first-team honors as a junior and senior. He is the first PSAC East catcher to be named first team in consecutive seasons since West Chester's Bob Stumpo in 2009 and 2010.

Freeman gives ESU the first team utility selection for the third straight year, following Ian Allen in 2016 and 2017, and one of the two utility slots for the sixth time in the last nine seasons.

Kauffman is the first ESU freshman named all-conference since pitcher/first baseman Brian Ernst in 2010, and just the fourth in school history.

The Warriors have at least three All-PSAC East selections for the seventh straight season. A total of 32 players have combined for 44 All-PSAC honors in 11 seasons under head coach John Kochmansky.

Zimmerman (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove) is the second ESU catcher to earn multiple first team honors, joining Gary Vyskocil in 1984 and 1985. He becomes the fifth three-time All-PSAC East selection in program history, along with outfielder J.D. Stern (1997-99), second baseman Jacob DeBoer (2005-07), Ernst (2010, 12-13) and Allen (2015-17).

ESU's all-time home run leader (22), Zimmerman finished his career in ESU's top 10 in eight categories. He ranks 1st in home runs and hit by pitch (36), 7th in extra-base hits (59), t-10th in doubles (33), t-7th in RBI (114), t-9th in runs (129), 9th in walks (81) and t-10th in games played (179), along with 11th in total bases (261) and t-11th in times reached base (271).

He ranks 19th at ESU with 154 career hits, second-most among catchers, and leads Warriors catchers in doubles, HR, extra-base hits, total bases, RBI, runs, HBP, times reached base and games played.

Zimmerman hit .313 with a .434 on-base percentage and .560 slugging percentage as a senior, going 42-for-134 with 13 doubles, one triple, six HR, 19 walks, 11 HBP, 28 RBI and 33 runs.

Behind the plate, he threw out 11-of-33 base stealers, and cut down 37 percent (45-of-123) in his career as a four-year starter.

He finished at ESU with an offensive line of .304/.428/.516 and hit all 22 of his career home runs in the last three seasons. He hit .314 with a .453 on-base percentage and .551 slugging percentage, including nine home runs, with 41 RBI and 48 runs on ESU's 2016 team that won a school-record 38 games; then hit .295/.409/.518 with seven home runs, 33 RBI and 28 runs as a junior to earn first team honors.

Freeman (Bangor, Pa./Bangor) had an impressive sophomore season, starting 38 of ESU's 43 games. He hit .313 with a .361 on-base percentage and .567 slugging percentage, 11 doubles, one triple, seven HR, 31 RBI and 27 runs while going 18-for-23 on stolen bases - and on the mound, was 3-2 with a 4.50 ERA, 17 strikeouts, eight walks and a .286 opponents average in 30.0 innings across seven appearances (six starts).

In ESU's 26 PSAC East games, he posted a line of .351/.400/.649 with six doubles, one triple, five HR, 21 RBI, 19 runs and 10 stolen bases, moving into the leadoff spot midway through the conference schedule.

He was 2-2 in five starts vs. the PSAC East, winning home starts vs. Kutztown (6.0 innings, 0 ER, 4 hits, 2 strikeouts, 1 walk in a 13-2 win) and vs. Shippensburg (6.0 innings, 1 run, 4 hits, 3 strikeouts, 1 walk in a 4-1 win). He was also effective in a 4-2 loss to Bloomsburg, allowing just one earned run over 5.0 innings.

Kauffman (Blue Ball, Pa./Garden Spot) started 41 of 43 games as a freshman and hit in the No. 3 spot 36 times. He made 36 starts at third base, plus five at second base.

He hit .331 with a .409 on-base percentage and .431 slugging percentage, including a team-high 43 hits, producing 10 doubles, one HR, 22 RBI and 28 runs. He also drew 18 walks and two HBP.
