EAST STROUDSBURG – Cole Kropnick fired in his PSAC-leading eighth goal of the year in the 68th minute, helping Shippensburg pull out a 1-0 victory over East Stroudsburg University at Eiler-Martin Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Warriors (5-3, 2-2 PSAC) saw a three-game winning streak come to an end despite outshooting the Raiders (6-2, 2-1 PSAC) by a 19-8 margin. Shippensburg has won 6 of 7 matches since dropping its season opener to Chestnut Hill.
Patrick Luebben led Kropnick into a scoring position, and his low shot from the top right of the box found the back of the net. ESU had five of the game's six shots following the strike, but were unable to get an effort past goalkeeper Garret Watson.
The Warriors' last chance of the game was one of their strongest, as graduate student
Jordon Ellison had an attempted free kick ring off the post. Ellison had four shots on the evening, while senior
Eddy Enowbi had a game-high eight attempts.
Watson finished with eight saves in goal for the Raiders, who have won the last three meetings between the teams at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
ESU returns to the road for its next matchup, traveling to Slippery Rock for a 3:30 p.m. contest on Saturday.
