SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – The East Stroudsburg University men's soccer team topped Shepherd by a 2-0 margin on Saturday behind goals from
Oliver Lundberg and
Hubert Herrera.
ESU (6-2-3, 3-2-1 PSAC East) was able to control play in the match, posting a 17-8 advantage over Shepherd in shots and a 9-0 margin on corner kicks.
Lundberg fired a team-high three shots in the contest, while five other Warriors tallied two apiece. Goalkeeper
Evan Miele made four saves in net to register his sixth win and fourth shutout of the season.
After a scoreless 30-plus minutes of play to open the match, Lundberg was able to break through for the game's first score. Lundberg's unassisted tally that gave the Warriors a 1-0 advantage was his first goal of the season.
With ESU still leading 1-0 late in the contest, Herrera netted his first collegiate goal. The freshman's tally in the 85
th minute gave the Warriors some insurance, and they eventually closed out the 2-0 victory.
ESU travels to West Chester this Wednesday, October 16 for a 1 p.m. match with the Golden Rams.
