BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University men's soccer team cruised to a 3-0 victory at Bloomsburg on Saturday behind a pair of goals from freshman
Bradley Turocy and one from senior
Sergio Bortolon.
The Warriors, who improved to 7-3-3 overall and 4-3-1 in conference following the victory, are now 4-1-1 in their last six contests.
ESU outshot Bloomsburg 21-12 overall in the win, including a 14-8 margin in the second half of play. Turocy and Bortolon tallied a team-high three shots apiece of the Warriors, while
Oliver Lundberg,
Irvin Zuzic,
Duarte Ferreira and
Michael Tolley each registered two.
Goalie
Evan Miele stopped three shots in net to record his seventh win of the year and his fifth shutout.
After a scoreless 40-plus minutes to open the contest, ESU broke through for the game's first goal on Turocy's first of the game.
Marcus Torgersson sent a pass to Turocy who got behind the defense, and the rookie beat goalie Nathan Slotnick to put ESU on top, 1-0.
In the 73
rd minute of the match, Bortolon got the Warriors some insurance with his second goal of the season. The senior received a thru ball from
Hubert Herrera, and scored on a one-on-one with the keeper to extend the team's lead to 2-0 with 18:48 remaining in the tilt.
Turocy struck for his second goal of the game and team-high sixth of the season in the final minute of play, as
Anton Lysell sent a perfect chip over a defender to Turocy, who buried it to make it a 3-0 game with just 21 seconds left on the clock. The tally gave Turocy his second multi-goal performance of his collegiate career.
ESU closed out the 3-0 shutout victory to collect its fourth conference win of the season and move into third place in the PSAC East.
The Warriors head to the University of the District of Columbia for a match on Tuesday, October 22 at 7 p.m.
