EAST STROUDSBURG – The third-seeded East Stroudsburg University women's volleyball team will host sixth-seeded Seton Hill on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in a PSAC Quarterfinal matchup inside Koehler Fieldhouse.
ESU (26-6, 16-3 PSAC) is making its second-straight appearance in the PSAC Volleyball Championship after qualifying for the tournament in 2018 for the first time since 2008. The Warriors won their most conference matches (16) and recorded double-digit conference wins for just the third time in program history.
The winner of Tuesday's matchup between the Warriors and Griffins will face either Shippensburg or Clarion on Friday in the semifinals. Shippensburg secured the No. 2 seed in the tournament, while Clarion enters as the No. 7 seed.
The highest remaining seed in the tournament will serve as the host for the semifinals and final. The time for Saturday's championship matchup has yet to be determined.
ESU defeated the Griffins 3-0 on October 19 inside Koehler Fieldhouse as the Warriors went 2-0 on Homecoming Weekend. The victory snapped a six-game losing skid in the all-time series against the Griffins as the Warriors won for the first time since 1997.
Seton Hill was one of two teams from the PSAC to appear in the 2018 NCAA DII Women's Volleyball Atlantic Regionals. The Griffins advanced to the Elite Eight before having their postseason run come to an end. The Griffins finished the regular season on a six-match winning streak and boast an overall record of 19-9.
The reigning PSAC Champions, Seton Hill is guided by 2018 PSAC Athlete of the Year Victoria Farian. Farian leads Seton Hill with 414 kills and is averaging 4.02 kills per set this season. She also leads the team with 426 digs and is fourth on the team in blocks with 39.
ESU leads the PSAC in total blocks (293) and ranks second in DII while ranking sixth nationally in blocks per set (2.55). The Warriors also lead the PSAC and rank third nationally in opponent hitting percentage (.093).
The Warriors have been paced defensively this season by redshirt junior
Trea-sure Ketter, who leads DII in blocks per set (1.46) and ranks third with 146 total blocks. Senior
Sarah Smith leads ESU with 378 kills on the season and is second in digs (403), while senior
