CoSIDA Release
EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University redshirt senior offensive lineman Levi Murphy has been named to the 2019 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Division II Academic All-America Second Team, as announced by the organization on Thursday.
The Academic All-America Teams, which are selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Murphy started all 11 games for the Warriors this season at left guard. He helped the team rack up 2,340 passing yards and 1,353 on the ground on the year. The Warrior offense ranked sixth in the PSAC this season with 30.7 points per game.
Murphy has also excelled in the classroom, posting a 3.90 cumulative GPA as a secondary education and history major. He's earned Dean's List honors in each semester at ESU, and is also a three-year member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, serving as the organization's President in 2018-19.
Murphy has collected many academic awards during his time at ESU, including 2019 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar honors, PSAC Scholar-Athlete recognition, the DII ADA Academic Achievement Award, and 2018 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team honors.
Murphy has also been actively involved with many community service initiatives, including helping with Read Across America, the Salvation Army, Breakfast with the Warriors, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Be the Match Foundation, and the Special Olympics.
The Warriors have now had 53 student-athletes combine for 73 Academic All-America selections in ESU Athletics history.
