STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The East Stroudsburg University men's track & field team added four new PSAC qualifying marks on Friday night at the Fasttrack National Invitational, as the Warriors competed alongside some of the top competition across Divisions I, II and III.
The Warriors had three top-five finishes at the meet, all coming from athletes who have already qualified for PSACs in their respective events.
Jalen Bailey raced to a second-place finish in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.28, which is the best of the season in the event for the Warriors.
Dan Amari matched his indoor best and claim third place in the pole vault, clearing 15-5, which is tied for second on ESU's all-time top-10 in indoor in the event. The team's other top-five finish came in the triple jump, as
Justin Miller, who has already provisionally-qualified for Nationals in the event, placed fourth with a leap of 46-11.
ESU's newest PSAC qualifier in the 400m was
Andrew Schumacher, as he clocked in at 50.59 to take sixth place.
The Warriors had two athletes newly qualify for conference championships and set PRs in the 3000m, led by
Dylan Senatore, who registered a time of 8:57.45.
Teddy Mostellar (8:58.69) also qualified with his performances.
In the 800m,
Nick Fanelli registered a team-best time of 2:00.76, and
Sean Roberts finished just behind him with a PR of 2:00.86.
Jalen Bailey posted a time of 22.61 to lead ESU in the 200m invite portion, while
Nick Lawrence registered a time of 22.93. In the 200m open,
Raul Esteves clocked in at 23.04 for ESU's top showing. Lawrence became a new PSAC qualifier in the event with his performance, joining Bailey and Esteves who previously qualified earlier this season.
Dominic Walton, who already has NCAA provisionally-qualifying marks in both the shot put and weight throw, led the Warriors in both events on Friday. He posted a 53-3 ½ in the shot put and a mark of 52-1 ¾ in the weight throw to earn sixth-place showings in both. In the shot put,
Noah Lockwood (45-10) and
Isaac Almoney (43-3) were next up for the Warriors. In the weight throw,
Daryn Blackwell (49-6 ½) and Lockwood (46-6 ¼) posted ESU's other top showings.
In addition to his impressive performance in the triple jump, Miller also took sixth place in the long jump with a leap of 22-6 ½.
ESU's three competitors in the mile all posted indoor collegiate PRs, with
Alex Race leading the way in 4:25.80.
Andrew Lopez (4:26.92) and
Austyn Hamilton (4:28.12) were next up for the Warriors.
In the 4x400m relay,
Sean Roberts, Bailey, Schumacher and
Mamadu Bari combined for a time of 3:29.68.
The Warriors head to their final meet before PSAC Championships, traveling to Kutztown for the Last Chance Qualifier next Friday, February 21.
