EDINBORO, Pa. –
Darnell Randall claimed the long jump title to highlight competition for the East Stroudsburg University men's track and field team during the opening day of the PSAC Indoor Championships on Saturday. The Warriors currently sit in first place in the team standings through six events.
Randall posted an NCAA provisionally-qualifying mark with his leap of 23-11 ½, which earned him the top finish in the long jump. Randall is now a two-time PSAC long jump champion, as he also claimed the top spot during the 2018 Outdoor Championships.
Justin Miller finished second in the long jump with a mark of 23-4 ¾. Miller provisionally-qualified for Nationals in the event earlier this season, and had the team's previous best mark (23-6) before Randall topped it on Saturday. Austin Nice also scored in the event for the Warriors, placing eighth with a PR of 21-10 ¼.
ESU earned a pair of second-place showings the relay events on Saturday. In the distance medley relay,
Luke Valdevit,
Zandrew Bowe,
Nick Fanelle and
Alex Race combined for a time of 10:36.03 to finish runner-up. In the 4x800m relay
Colin Crosbie,
Ben Reisenweaver,
Andrew Lopez and
Austyn Hamilton clocked in at 7:56.93 to take second place.
Dominic Walton had the team's top showing in the weight throw, placing third with a PR of 58-10 ¼, which is third-best on ESU's all-time top-10 list.
Daryn Blackwell also scored for the Warriors with a seventh-place showing, posting a PR of 53-7 ½ to move into sixth place on ESU's top-10.
Noah Lockwood (51-0) and
Isaac Almoney (46-9 ½) also registered PRs in the event.
In the 5000m,
Dylan Senatore crossed the finish line with a season-best time of 15:27.14 to earn a podium finish in third place.
Jeremy Smith placed sixth in the event with a season-best time of 15:35.92, and Nate Senatore also had his best time of the year with a 15:49.91 to take eighth place.
The pole vault saw
Robert Plumb,
Khalid Holland and
Ryan Ruggiero all tie for fifth place after clearing 13-7 ¼. Plumb tied his PR with his performance.
In preliminary heats, ESU had one runner qualify for finals as
Jalen Bailey posted the third-best time in the 60m hurdles prelims with a season-best time of 8.25.
ESU occupies the top spot in the team standings with 60.5 points, while Slippery Rock (39) and Shippensburg (35) round out the top three.
ESU will close out the PSAC Championships with competition on Sunday beginning at 11:30 a.m. from the Mike S. Zafirovski Sports and Recreation Dome
