EDINBORO, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University men's track and field team posted five top-three finishes on the final day of the PSAC Indoor Championships on Sunday, as the Warriors finished second in the team standings with 123.5 points.
Shippensburg won the team title with 171 points as the Raiders claimed the championship for the 10
th straight season. ESU finished in second place for the second consecutive year, matching the team's best finish at the PSAC Indoor Championships. The 123.5 team points for the Warriors were the second-most in program history at indoors.
The Warriors took second and third in the shot put, with
Dominic Walton's toss of 56-4 earning him a second-place showing.
Noah Lockwood set a PR of 51-9 to finish third and move into fifth on ESU's all-time top-10 in the event. Walton still occupies the number two spot on ESU's top-10 with his 57-6 ½ earlier this season.
Isaac Almoney was next up for the Warriors in the shot put on Sunday with his mark of 44-2.
ESU also had a strong showing in the triple jump, finishing 2-4-5 to have three competitors score in the event.
Justin Miller earned a second-place showing with a mark of 48-4 ½, and freshmen
Obed Bamungwa (46-6) and
Joel Ingram (45-2 ½) both posted PRs to finish fourth and fifth, respectively. Bamungwa's performance tied him for 10
th on ESU's all-time top-10. Miller holds the third spot on that list with his 49-5 ½ earlier this season.
In the 4x400m relay, the squad of
Sean Roberts,
Jalen Bailey,
Andrew Schumacher and
Mamadu Bari combined for a season-best time of 3:22.03 to take second place in the event.
The other Warriors to earn top-three finishes on the day were
Jalen Bailey in the 60m hurdles (8.27) and
Austyn Hamilton in the 800m (1:57.32). Hamilton's time in the 800 was a season-best for the freshman. Next up for the Warriors in the 800 behind Hamilton were
Ben Reisenweaver (2:04.40) and
Andrew Lopez (2:08.55).
ESU had all three of its competitors score in the heptathlon, led by
Garth Estadt who placed fifth with 4,593 points, as he just missed his record (4,594) which is third all-time on ESU's top-10 list.
Daniel Daley finished seventh with 4,222 points, which is eighth on ESU's top-10, and
Eric Krzyzaniak placed eighth with 4,152 points, which is ninth on ESU's top-10.
Darnell Randall, who claimed the PSAC long jump title yesterday, also led the way for the Warriors in the high jump on Sunday with a fifth place showing after clearing 6-4. Caleb Carney was next up for ESU in the event as he cleared 5-10.
Andrew Lopez scored for the Warriors in the mile, clocking in at 4:29.12 to earn an eighth-place showing, while
Luke Valdevit finished 12
th with a time of 4:35.77.
In the 3000m,
Alex Race paced ESU with a time of 9:04.31, and
Teddy Mostellar crossed the line in 9:22.31.
The Warriors will send their NCAA qualifiers who make the cut to the Division II Indoor Championships on March 13-14 in Birmingham, Alabama.
