EAST STROUDSBURG – The College Sports Information Directors of America released its 2019-20 Academic All-America teams for women's basketball on Tuesday, with East Stroudsburg University senior guard
Tiffany Lapotsky being named to the Second Team.
Nine of the 15 members of the 2019-20 Academic All-America Division II Women's Basketball teams have at least a 3.90 G.P.A., with two student-athletes maintaining a perfect 4.00 GPA. The Academic All-District and Academic All-America teams recognize student-athletes for athletic and academic achievements and are nominated and voted on by members of CoSIDA.
The 2019-20 Academic All-America Division II Women's Basketball teams have five repeat performers – Kallie Bildner (Lindenwood University), Boensch,
Tiffany Lapotsky (East Stroudsburg University), Emily Miller (Roberts Wesleyan College) and Alexy Mollenhauer (Anderson (S.C.) University) - from last year's CoSIDA Academic All-America teams.
Lapotsky (Ashland, Pa./North Schuylkill) receives the award for a second consecutive season after becoming the first member of the women's basketball program to receive the award since the inception of the Academic All-American program in 1979. Since then, there have been 53 student-athletes that have earned a total of 74 awards for the Warriors.
In February, she earned her second Academic All-District selection and the fifth for the women's basketball program since the 2005-06 season. Jackie Yandrisevits received the award twice (2008-09, 2007-08) during her career with the Warriors.
Lapotsky currently holds a 3.96 grade-point average at ESU, while majoring in Exercise Science. She is also a member of the honors program and exercise science club at ESU.
Last week, Lapotsky was named to the All-PSAC East first team, marking the second time that she's earned first-team accolades. She is the first member of the women's basketball team to earn multiple first-team selections since
Imani Brown (2016-17, 17-18).
She started all 30 games this season for the Warriors and paced the team in field-goals, free-throws, points, points per game, and steals. Her 18.9 points per game this season set a career-high, while her 566 points are the second-most by a Warrior in program history as the late Stacy Perryman scored 571 points during the 1994-95 season.
Lapotsky scored 10 or more points in 29 games this season and crossed the 20-point mark 15 times after scoring 21 points on Saturday in the ESU's PSAC Semifinal loss against No. 7 IUP. She finishes her career ranked 6th all-time in program history with 1,486 points and 529 made field goals. She also ranks 5th all-time with 129 3-point field-goals and a 33.2 career 3-point shooting percentage. She became only the seventh player in program history to record 1,400 points in her career and first since Jackie Yandrisevits (2005-09).
