Field Hockey Earns Five All-PSAC Honors; Barbush & Veenstra Garner First Team Accolades

EAST STROUDSBURG – The PSAC announced its 2021 field hockey all-conference and major award winners on Wednesday afternoon and the East Stroudsburg University field hockey team had five players honored.

Seniors Hannah Barbush and Celeste Veenstra garnered first-team All-PSAC honors, while senior Morgan Mesenbrink and junior Lia Parker landed on the second-team. Junior Nicole Krozser rounded out the all-conference accolades by being named to the third team.

The Warriors have now received 41 All-PSAC selections over the past seven seasons. Over the last four seasons, 20 different players have combined for 25 all-conference selections.

Barbush is one of the two repeat all-conference performers during that span, as she was achieved second-team status in 2019. The Manheim, Pa. native has three goals and a team-high eight assists this season as well as four defensive saves. Barbush was named the PSAC Defensive Athlete of the Week on November 1. She has the fifth most assists in the PSAC and ranks tied for third in the conference and seventh nationally in defensive saves.

Veenstra became just the 10th player in program history to be named First Team All-PSAC twice, having achieved that status in 2019 as well as third team honors in 2018. This season, Veenstra has recorded a team-high 10 goals to go along with two assists through the first 18 games. The Alkmaar, Netherlands native recorded her second career hat trick against Mercyhurst while also scoring a pair of goals versus No. 8 Adelphi and Seton Hill. Among PSAC ranks, Veenstra is tied for eighth in goals and tied for 10th in points (22).

Mesenbrink garnered All-PSAC honors for the first time in her career after starting all 18 games and scoring a career-high six goals. The Hartland, Wisc. Native also tallied a pair of assists to go along with game-winning goals against Lindewood and No. 6 Kutztown.

Parker made a huge jump this season to earn the first all-conference selection of her career as she started all 18 games in the Warriors' midfield. The East Stroudsburg product scored four goals, included the game-winners against No. 6 Kutztown and Mansfield, and notched four assists.

Krozser played in all 18 contests while making 17 starts for ESU this season to earn All-PSAC laurels for the first time in her career. The Boonton, N.J. native registered a career-high six goals as well as one assist. Krozser scored the game-winning goal against No. 8 Adelphi and No. 5 Millersville, which helped the Warriors clinch the two seed in the PSAC Tournament.

The Warriors (15-3, 9-1) begin postseason play on Friday at 3:30 against No. 2 West Chester (14-3, 7-2) in the PSAC semifinal matchup at Shippensburg's Robb Sports Complex. The winner will face either the Raiders or Millersville in the conference championship game at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Shippensburg, West Chester and ESU ranked No. 1 through No. 3 in today's DII Atlantic Regional rankings. The NCAA Selection Show is set for Monday, Nov. 8 at 3 p.m.
