LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – After helping the East Stroudsburg University lacrosse team to a 2-0 start, senior Bailey McMaster and graduate student Tatyana Petteway have both earned weekly honors from the PSAC.
Petteway was selected as the PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week after a pair of impressive performances in the cage. The 2021 US Lacrosse Magazine Preseason Player of the Year combined to concede just eight goals in two games, recording 21 total saves. She currently leads all goalkeepers in Division II in save percentage (.724), ranks third in the country in goals against average (4.18) and 13th in saves per game. As a result of her and the Warriors' defensive play, ESU ranks fourth as unit in DII in scoring defense (4.50) and scoring margin (12.50).
The native of Nanuet, N.Y. is the active NCAA DII career saves leader with 646 saves, more than 100 saves than second-place goalkeeper from Bloomsburg. Among all levels of NCAA women's lacrosse, she ranks second in active career saves, only trailing Ohio State's Jillian Rizzo (710).
Senior Bailey McMaster was also honored by the conference, as she was named the PSAC East Offensive Athlete of the Week. McMaster paced the ESU offense with seven goals in two games. She registered a hat trick against Frostburg State and followed up that outing with four goals against Bloomsburg in the PSAC East opener. She is currently tied with Hana Cicerelle with seven points on the season to lead the Warriors.
Along with the two individual awards, the Warriors continue to remain nationally ranked in both major Division II lacrosse polls. ESU is ranked No. 6 in the Nike/US Lacrosse Division II Women's Top 20 and No. 11 in the IWLCA Division II Coaches Poll.
The Warriors, who have outscored its opposition 34-9 on the season, return to action on the road at Millersville on Wed., March 17 at 4:00 p.m.
