Men’s Track & Field Earns 14 Top-5 Finishes at Bill Butler Invitational

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University men's track and field team earned a first place finish from Raul Esteves in the 100m and 13 other top-five finishes on Saturday at the Bill Butler Invitational hosted by West Chester.

Freshman Raul Esteves kicked off the day for Warriors with a first place finish in the 100m dash after clocking a time of 10.97. Fellow classmate Austin Nice was seventh in the event with a time of 11.46.

Freshman Nasir Kyle picked up a fourth place finish in the 110m hurdles after recording a time of 16.50 seconds and took fifth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 59.84 seconds.

In the 5000m, sophomore Luke Valdevit earned a fifth place finish after running a time of 15:46.68.

As the only team competing in the 4x100m relay, the Warriors' group of Austin Nice, Sean Roberts, Raul Esteves and Jared Williams clocked a time of 43.72 seconds. The combination of Roberts, Raul Esteves, Lawrence Bass and Alejandro Paez followed up with a third place finish in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:27.61.

In the field events, freshman Romanley Turnier started the day with a fourth place finish in the high jump after clearing the bar at 6-2 3/4.

Junior Grant Fox and junior Dan Amari both finished tied for third in the pole vault after clearing the bar at 14-5 1/4.

After competing on the track, Austin Nice picked up a fourth place finish in the long jump after recording a mark of 20-10 1/2.

Freshman Isaac Almoney made his outdoor debut for the Warriors by taking third in both the shot put and discus with throws of 43-11 1/2 and 141-0, respectively. He also earned a fourth place finish in the hammer throw with a toss of 152-7. Sophomore Daryn Blackwell finished as the runner-up in the event after recording a season-best throw of 166-1.

The Warriors are back in action next week when they host the 14th annual All-American Invite at Eiler-Martin Stadium beginning at 10:30 a.m.
