MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University men's track and field program opened the 2021 outdoor season on Saturday with a second-place finish at the 38th annual Millersville Metrics held at Biemesderfer Stadium.
The Warriors scored 164 points in the team standings while also notching five first-place finishes. ESU won four events on the track and one in the field.
Racing against each other to open the day, senior
Casey Ellis, senior Theodore Mostellar and junior Josh D'Agnostino claimed the top three spots in the 10000m. Ellis paced the Warriors finishing in 31:20.16, Mostellar was just behind after clocking a time of 32:24.19 and D'Agnostino recorded a time of 34:10.51.
Sophomore
Raul Esteves won the 200m dash with a time of 22.24 seconds. Freshmen
Nasir Kyle and
Sebastian Smith finished 1-2 in the 400m hurdles with Kyle finishing in 1:01.50 and Smith right behind with a time of 1:01.58.
The Warriors were the only team to run in the 4x100m relay and ran to a first-place finish in a time of 44.25 seconds. In the 4x400m relay, ESU took third with a time of 3:37.96.
Junior
Luke Valdevit finished as the runner-up with a time of 4:06.45 in section two of the 1500m.
In the 100m dash, sophomore
Austin Nice finished second with a time of 11.52 and sophomore
Jared Williams was right behind him in third with a time of 11.57 seconds.
The Warriors claimed spots 2-6 in the 110m hurdles with sophomore
Caleb Carney leading the way in second place with a time of 15:93.
Daniel Daley finished third (16:05),
Nasir Kyle took fourth (16.41),
Eric Krzyzaniak was fifth (16.54) and
Sebastian Smith came in sixth (16.89).
Junior
Sean Roberts took third in the 400m after finishing with a time of 51.41 seconds.
Freshman
Alejandro Paez delivered a fourth-place run for the Warriors in the 800m after clocking a time of 2:01.22.
In the field events, the Warriors claimed the top two spots in the high jump with junior
Carlos Pepin clearing the bar at 1.87m for first place and sophomore
Romanley Turnier jumping over the bar at 1.82m to finish second.
Krzyzaniak and Nice returned later in the meet to finish third in their respective events. Krzyzaniak took third in the pole vault after clearing the bar at 3.45m and Nice took third in the long jump after leaping 6.24m.
Junior
Daryn Blackwell earned three points in the hammer throw with a sixth place finish after recording a mark of 44.27m on his fifth attempt. Blackwell followed that up by taking seventh in the discus with a throw of 39.65m.

The men's track and field team is back in action on Thursday as they travel to Kutztown for the two-day Mondschein Multi. The Warriors then head to West Chester on Saturday for the Bill Butler Invitational.
