KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Freshman
Caleb Carney paced the East Stroudsburg University men's track and field team at the two-day Mondschein Multis by placing third in the decathlon.
Carney earned the third place finish after totaling 5290 points across the 10 events. Junior
Eric Krzyzaniak was right behind in fourth with 5268 points while sophomore
Daniel Daley came in fifth after totaling 4992 points.
Carney entered day two in second place after recording 3064 points across five events on Friday. On day one, Carney finished first in the high jump after clearing 1.78m, third in the 100m dash with a time of 11.43 seconds and third in the 400m dash after clocking a time of 52.58 seconds. Carney also recorded marks of 5.81m in the long jump and a throw of 9.26m in the shot put to place fifth in both events.
On day two, Carney opened with a first place finish in the 110m hurdles after clocking a time of 15.80 seconds. He followed that up by coming in third in the discus with a throw of 22.50m and fourth in the pole vault after clearing 2.85m. In the final two events, Carney posted a throw of 35.04m in the javelin and clocked a time of 5:18.19 in the 1500m to take fifth.
Krzyzaniak, who finished 22 points behind Carney, earned first place finishes in the discus and javelin on day two to take fourth. On day one, Krzyzaniak was third in the shot put (9.32m) fourth in 100m (11.60), long jump (5.85m) and 400m (53.81) and fifth in the high jump after clearing the bar at 1.63m.
On day two, the junior picked up wins in the discus and javelin with throws of 28.01m and 40.07m, respectively. Krzyzaniak also took third in the pole vault (2.95m) and 1500m (4:59.52) while rounding out his scoring with a fourth place finish in the 110m hurdles (16.97).
Sophomore
Daniel Daley earned a pair of second place finishes on day to come in fifth. On day one, Daley was third in the high jump (1.72m), fifth in both the 100m (11.66) and 400m (54.88) and sixth in the long jump (5.78m) as well as the shot put (9.22m).
Daley excelled in the first two events of the second day as he earned runner-up finishes in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.55 seconds and discus with throw of 25.77m. The sophomore went on to take fourth in the 1500m (5:13.38) and fifth in both the pole vault (2.75m) and javelin (29.62m).
