BLOOMSBURG, Pa. -- Lucas Marques capped a comeback with a goal in the 88th minute, as the East Stroudsburg University men's soccer team knocked off No. 22 Bloomsburg, 3-2, in the PSAC Opener on Wednesday at Steph Pettit Stadium.

How It Happened

  • 35:58 | Approaching halftime, BU's Parker Nickelson would strike in the 36th minute. The Husky goalkeeper would boot a ball that would find settled and passed to Nickelson, who was able to lift a shot over the head of Miele, who was coming in to attempt a save.
  • 38:05 | Just over two minutes later, Bloomsburg would extend its lead to 2-0 after the Warriors failed to clear a ball in their defensive zone. Collis Heleine gained possession and attempted a far shot that was just out of reach of the jumping Miele.
  • 51:58 | ESU would put a tally on the scoreboard in the 52nd minute, as Raymond took possession deep into the offensive end after a through ball from Lucas Marques. After quickly settling the pass and preventing it from going over the end line, Raymond sent a cross that was unable to be tracked down by the Husky goalkeeper, as Turocy would have an open net to slide the ball into.
  • 76:16 | Off of a free kick, Carlos would gain possession off the far post as Cucurella would fire a shot that bounced right over the diving BU keeper to knot the score at 2-2 with less than 14 minutes remaining in regulation.
  • 87:20 | On a free kick just outside the goal box, Abdullah Nuredini would fire a shot that was saved, but Marques made a beeline towards the rebound quickly and sent an elevated shot to the top right-corner for the eventual game-winning goal. The Warriors were a man down, after Turocy's second yellow card of the evening in the 76th minute.

Up Next: The Warriors are idle this weekend and return to Eiler-Martin Stadium on Wednesday, Sept. 29 against Shippensburg. The contest is slated to start at 4:30 p.m.
