DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – In its non-conference finale, the East Stroudsburg University men's soccer team came up just short in a 1-0 loss to No. 18 Mercy on Tuesday afternoon at Mercy Field.
The Warriors enter the final stretch of PSAC East play with a 6-8-1, 5-3-1 conference record. The nationally-ranked Mavericks are now 10-2-3, 4-1-2 in East Coast Conference.
Mercy's Martin Penafiel recorded the lone goal of the contest in the 54th minute on an assist from Daniel Rodriguez.

- Mercy led 12-5 on shots, 5-2 on shots on goal and 8-2 on corner kicks.
- Tallying shots on goal for ESU were Nathan Bradyway and Hunter Paone.
- Freshman Helgi Hermannson (1-2-1) posted four saves in goal for the Warriors. Eirik Elvestad countered with a pair of saves in the shutout.

- 54' | After a throw-in in the MC offensive zone, Rodriguez flipped a pass into the middle of the pitch in space for Penafiel, who rocketed a shot to the high-right side of the net, just out of reach of Hermannson's glove.
