WEST CHESTER, Pa. – After a scoreless first half, the East Stroudsburg University men's soccer team improved its postseason hopes with goals from Matteo Geidies, Ignasi Cucurella and Trevor Paone in the final 30 minutes of action to defeat West Chester on Wednesday afternoon at Rockwell Field.
With the win, the Warriors (7-8-2, 6-3-2 PSAC East) now sit in second place in the PSAC East and hold a critical tiebreaker of the Golden Rams (9-5-2, 6-3-2), with just one game remaining for both teams that have 20 points.

- Bloomsburg currently leads the PSAC East with 22 points with two games remaining, followed by ESU and West Chester at 20 points for the current field in Eastern Division of the PSAC Tournament. Millersville, who currently sits in fourth place with 19 points, is now in fourth place with a pair of contests to go. Bloomsburg meets Shippensburg on Wednesday night and Millersville on Saturday in the regular season finale.
- Recording assists for ESU were Abdulla Nuredini and Stelios Melekos.
- In goal, freshman Helgi Hermannsson (2-2-2) posted six saves in his fourth shutout over his past five appearances. He lowered his season goals against average to 0.77 and improved his save percentage to 82.1 percent.

How It Happened
- 60' | Nuredini made a move past a defender and sent a long pass to Geidies on the far side of the field. After the goalkeeper got a glove on the pass, Geides retrieved possession and sent a shot at an awkward angle for the opening goal of the contest.
- 69' | On a penalty kick, Cucurella recorded his second goal this season, depositing a shot to the lower-right corner, past the diving WCU goalkeeper.
- 88' | With the game winding down, Melekos sent a picture perfect pass to Trevor Paone, who took possession and sent one dribble, outracing the Golden Ram defender before a picturesque shot to the top-right corner of the goal.
