Volleyball Falls at Millersville

MILLERSVILLE – The East Stroudsburg University volleyball was swept by Millersville in their final road match of the regular season on Saturday afternoon at Pucillo Gymnasium. The set scores were 17-25, 23-25, 18-25.

ESU drops their fifth straight match, moving to 12-13 overall and 6-6 in the conference while the Marauders go to 16-11 on the season and 6-6 in the PSAC East.

With two matches remaining in the regular season, ESU, Kutztown and Millersville are tied for the fourth seed at 6-6.

Notables vs. Millersville
  • Freshman Anna Coulter and redshirt junior Kaylee LoPresto paced the Warriors with eight kills each, while LoPresto added nine digs
  • Juniors Claire Choloux and Sydney stone combined for 12 kills (six each) and 18 digs
  • Sophomore Taylor Haan dished out a team-high 16 assists while junior Riley Kallevig had double figures in digs with 16
  • Millersville posted a .232 hitting percentage (41 kills, 12 errors), while the Warriors record a .137 clip (34 kills, 18 errors)
  • The Marauders served 10 aces compared to four for ESU and each team recorded a pair of blocks
How it Happened vs. Millersville
  • With the help of a 4-0 run, the Marauders jumped out to a 9-3 lead before going on to push their edge to 15-8. Millersville extended their advantage to nine points on several occasions at 19-10, 22-13 and 23-14, ultimately closing out the Warriors at 25-17 for a 1-0 lead in the match.
     
  • It was all Millersville to open the second set as the Marauders raced out in front 10-4, but the Warriors were able to trim their deficit to four points at 16-12. Out of a timeout, Millersville maintained a four-point lead at 21-17, before ESU used a 5-1 run to even the score at 22-22. However, the Marauders closed out the set strong by scoring three of the next four points for a 25-23 set two win and a 2-0 lead over the Warriors.
     
  • ESU was up 4-1 early in the final set, but a kill and two aces by Millersville knotted up the score at 4-4. The teams would go on to trade the next 15 points until the Marauders put together a 7-0 spurt to grab a 18-12 advantage. Millersville would edge the Warriors, 7-6, the rest of the way to secure a 25-18 set three victory for the sweep.
