EAST STROUDSBURG – Despite suffering their first loss of the season, the East Stroudsburg University field hockey team remained at No. 2 in the latest Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II National Coaches Poll, released on Tuesday by the organization.
West Chester (7-0) stayed No. 1 for the fourth consecutive week after receiving 20 of the 21 first-place votes. Shippensburg followed the Warriors at No. 3 despite receiving a single first-place vote.
No. 4 Millersville (7-0) and No. 5 Kutztown (7-2) flip flopped spots while No. 6 IUP (5-2), No. 7 Converse (6-0) and No. 8 Assumption (5-2) each jumped up a spot after Saint Anselm (2-4) dropped down to No. 9. Newberry (5-2) remained at No. 10 to round out this week's poll.
The Warriors are back at Whitenight Field for the first time in 38 days on Wednesday, Oct. 12 as ESU hosts Bloomsburg at 3 p.m.
Amy Supey remains as one the top goalkeepers in the country as the junior leads all of NCAA DII and the PSAC with a 0.28 goals against average and .889 save percentage.
ESU has featured a balance offensive attack through the first half of the season with 15 different goal scorers, led by seniors Nicole Krozser (6), Madison Kline (5), Hanna Lewis (5) and graduate student Morgan Messenbrink (5).
