EAST STROUDSBURG – On Tuesday, East Stroudsburg University women's basketball graduate student Ryan Weise was honored as the National Player of the Week by the Division II Conference Information Directors Association.
After receiving her third straight PSAC East Athlete of the Week recognition yesterday, Weise becomes the first player in program history to garner national honors.
The Allentown, N.J. native nearly could not be stopped in a 2-0 weekend for the Warriors as she averaged 30.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 4.5 steals and 1.5 blocks. Weise was knock down from anywhere on the floor, shooting 17-of-20 (85.0%) from the field, 12-of-15 (80.0%) from beyond the arc and 12-of-15 (83.3%) from the free throw line.
In the Warriors' season opener, Weise filled it up with 31 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, five steals and two blocks against Virginia Union. The guard notched her second straight double the next day with 30 points, which included tying the program's single-game record for three pointers with eight, and 11 rebounds to go with five assists, four steals and a block versus Shaw.
