Harnish Highlights Final Day of PSAC Swimming Championships for ESU

The graduate student clocked a personal-best time in the 200-yd breaststroke

YORK, Pa. -- In her final collegiate swimming meet, graduate student Julia Harnish highlighted the final day of the PSAC Championships for the East Stroudsburg University swimming team on Saturday evening inside the Graham Aquatic Center. Harnish posted a personal-best time of 2:33.79 in the 200-yd breaststroke to earn ESU five points towards its team score.

Notables

  • Harnish finished in 20th place in the event, topping her previous best time of 2:33.92 which she set at the 2021 PSAC Championships.
  • ESU finished the conference meet with 198 points, which put the Warriors in 11th place.
  • West Chester claimed the PSAC Championship in both men's and women's swimming. The Golden Rams have now won 14 of the last 15 PSAC Women's Swimming Championships after not participating in the 2021 season.
How It Happened: Session 7 (Prelims)
  • Madison Tafe clocked a time of 19:24.22 in the 1650-yd freestyle to open the final day of the PSAC Championships. She finished in 26th place.
  • The Warriors had four swimmers participate in the 100-yd freestyle. Jenna Johnson was less than a 10th of a second a way from advancing to the finals in the event, touching the pad with a time of 54.78, just .09 seconds away from advancing to the night session for 25th place.
  • Emma Billings (56.49, 36th), Naihomy Garcia (56.71, 39th) and Avery Fohring (59.23, 45th) also swam in the 100 free.

How it Happened: Session 8 (Finals)

  • Harnish topped her previous best mark in the 200-yd breaststroke, which ranks 10th best at ESU since 1995.
  • In its final event of the year, ESU's 400-yd freestyle relay team of Tafe, Garcia, Billings and Johnson posted a time of 3:43.56, which gave the Warriors 32 team points in the 11th place finish.
