EAST STROUDSBURG – A total of 24 East Stroudsburg University field hockey players earned a spot on the 2021 National Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NFHCA) Division II National Academic squad, the organization announced on Tuesday.
Included among the 24 recipients were four Warriors who have been recognized for four-consecutive seasons. They are Hannah Barbush, Helen Bradley, Lea Hughes and Tracy Jo Sephton.
The Warriors, who advanced to this year's NCAA Final Four, maintained its tradition of excelling both athletically and academically. ESU was just shy of having the most National Academic Squad honorees in Division II as they accomplished that feat during the 2017-18 and 2018-19 academic calendar years.
Over 540 student-athletes from 35 Division II institutions have been named to the 2021 NFHCA Division II National Academic Squad.
The NFHCA National Academic Squad program, sponsored by OPA Winning Teams, honors collegiate student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3 or higher through the first semester of the current academic year, and were nominated by their NFHCA member coach.
Bloomsburg University led all institutions with the most National Academic Squad selections this year, placing 25 student-athletes on the list.
