EAST STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg University freshman Cole Gorham has been tabbed as the PSAC Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the week after his record-breaking effort at the ESU Invitational, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
Inching closer every week, Gorham finally surpassed the 42-year-old program record in the discus with a throw of 51.85m (170-1) on his way to taking first place in the event. The freshman was also the winner in the shot put with a mark of 15.23m (49-11 ¾).
Among PSAC ranks, the Kingston, Pa. native currently holds the stop spot in the discus and is fourth in the shot put.
Gorham secured a NCAA Division II provisional mark back on April 9 at the George Mason Spring Invitational and currently ranks 20th in all of Division II.
The Warriors will one final tune up in prior to the PSAC Championships as they are set to compete at the Penn Relays and Carol & John Covert Classic at Lehigh from Thursday through Saturday.
