EAST STROUDSBURG - The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday that senior sprinter Sean Roberts was named to the 2021-22 Academic All-District 2 Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Team, an award that recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom.
Roberts receives the honors for the first time in his career after posting a perfect 4.0 GPA as a political science and criminal justice major.
The Saddle Brook, N.J. native was recently awarded as the PSAC champion scholar for the second consecutive outdoor season and third time overall.
At this year's conference championships, Roberts took sixth in the 400m while also competing on the 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams.
A total of 17 men's track and field/cross country athletes have combined for 25 Academic All-District honors since 1996.
Roberts becomes the fourth Warrior this year to garner CoSIDA All-District honors, joining football senior Rece Benber, volleyball senior Ali Finch and field hockey senior Hannah Barbush.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District and Academic All-America teams recognize student-athletes for athletic and academic achievements and are nominated and voted on by members of CoSIDA.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in mid-June.
