AUSTIN, Texas – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Wednesday that East Stroudsburg University men's track & field sprinter Sean Roberts has been named to the 2021-22 Academic All-America Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Third Team.
Roberts holds a perfect 4.0 GPA as a political science and criminal justice major and was most recently honored as the PSAC Champion Scholar for the third time in his career, a CoSIDA Academic All-District 2 selection and the ESU Distinguished Scholar.
The Saddle Brook, N.J. native becomes the Warriors' 58th Academic All-American and fourth in 2021-22, joining ESU football's Rece Bender (Second Team), volleyball's Ali Finch (Third Team) and field hockey's Hannah Barbush (Third Team).
At this year's indoor championships, Roberts was a member on the 4x400m relay team that recorded a second place finish while also competing in the 400m.
During the outdoor championships, Roberts took sixth place in the 400m and ran on the 4x400m relay team that finished as the runners-up. Roberts was also apart of the same relay squad that clocked the seventh fastest time in school history at the 126th Penn Relays.
Roberts becomes the 11th Warrior men's track & field student-athlete and 15th overall selection to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors. Joining Teddy Mostellar (2021, 3rd Team), Alex Zubko (2017 – 1st, 2016 – 1st, 2015 – 3rd), Travis Toth (2016, 1st), William Berry (2016, 1st), Matt Tholis (2013, 1st), Dan Johnson (2012, 1st), Ian Melhorn (2012, 1st), Paul Wagner (2010 – 1st, 2009 – 3rd), Dan Gale (2006, 3rd) and Rob Stone (1998 – 2nd, 1996 – 2nd).
