EAST STROUDSBURG – The East Stroudsburg University softball team announced on Friday that Maryland transfer Jada Smallwood will join the team and enroll at ESU for this upcoming season.
Smallwood, a native of Lithia, Fla., spent two seasons on the Terrapins' roster. Smallwood was a senior captain for Newsome High School earning All-District Player of the Year honors along with FACA All-State accolades. She helped lead the Lady Wolves to a Florida 9A State Championship appearance, along with regional and district championships.
"I chose to come to ESU because from the moment I stepped on the beautiful campus, it felt like home." said Smallwood.
"I am someone who values family and ESU provides that inclusive family environment, where I feel welcome with open arms. I am super excited for a fresh start, where I am able to work hard on and off the field. I am eager to get started. Go Warriors!"
"We are excited for Jada's arrival to ESU," said ESU head softball coach Jaime Wohlbach. "Her energy, passion for the game and work ethic are what we look for in a player! She is a solid softball player and a true utility player. We look forward to Jada's success on and off the field."
She plans to major in criminal justice.
Smallwood joins an experienced roster that has matched and broken its wins record in 2021 and 2022. Over the past two seasons, the Warriors have posted a 63-27 record including a 35-7 record at Creekview Park.
