Warriors Fall in Heartbreaker to Molloy

EAST STROUDSBURG – After nearly 88 minutes of scoreless action, it was Molloy that found the back of the net for the lone goal in a 1-0 victory for the Lions over the East Stroudsburg University men's soccer team on Sunday evening inside Eiler-Martin Stadium.

The Warriors (1-1-0) suffer their first loss of 2022, while the Lions (1-0-1), come up with a late game-winning goal for the second consecutive season against ESU.

Notables

  • Devon Seneca recorded the lone goal, with Adam Lesniewski tallying an assist on the play.
  • ESU led 24-16 on shots, but both teams registered six shots on goal. ESU led 6-5 on corner kicks on the evening.
  • Six different Warriors accounted for shots on goal, with Trevor Paone and Colby Raymond each totaling four shots overall.
  • In his second career start, Brayden Evans (1-1-0) made five saves. Through two career games, he has tallied 12 saves and a .857 save percentage.
  • Molloy GK Nick Conklu (1-0-1) recorded six saves on the night for his first win of the season.  
  • It was another chippy contest at Eiler-Martin Stadium, with both squads combining for seven cards for the second consecutive match. The Lions were charged with four yellow cards, while ESU was credited with three.
  • In nearly identical fashion to the 2021 edition of ESU and Molloy, it was the Lions that earned a 1-0 victory for the second consecutive season with the game-winning goal coming in the 90th minute on a penalty kick in Rockville Centre, N.Y.
