PHILADELPHIA – In a defensive battle, the East Stroudsburg University men's soccer team could not find the back of the net, falling 1-0 to Holy Family on Wednesday evening at Tiger Field.
The Warriors fall to 1-2, on the season, while the Tigers (1-1) pick up its first win of 2022.
Notables
- While both teams struggled to get scoring opportunities, it was Holy Family's Dakota Taylor was able to deposit the line goal of the contest, shortly after halftime.
- Taylor led the game with six shots, with four reaching net. HFU's Joel Richmond also tallied four shots on goal.
- Reigning PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week Brayden Evans played well once again, recording eight saves to keep the Warriors within striking distance.
- With 1:24 left, ESU had an opportunity with a free kick deep in the offensive zone, but Abdulla Nuredini's shot would not reach the goal after being blocked by the wall of defenders. Another opportunity followed with just over a minute remaining, but HFU would gain possession and would be able to run out the clock.
- Each team posted 13 shots, but 10 of HFU's 13 shots reached the goal, while two of the Warriors' 13 shots were on target.
- Four Tigers received yellow cards, while ESU was not charged with a card for the first time this season.
How it Happened
- 47'| Taylor gained possession near midfield, after a teammate headed the ball towards the opposite goal. He sped past a couple of Warrior defenders, before depositing a shot to the right of the diving ESU goalkeeper for the lone goal of the game.

- The Warriors will have the weekend off of competition, before traveling to the Nation's Capital on Tuesday, when the Warriors battle the University of District Columbia at Noon. ESU will then open the PSAC slate on Sat., Sept. 10 against Shepherd.
