EAST STROUDSBURG – Facing the PSAC East preseason favorite, the East Stroudsburg University men's soccer team suffered its first conference loss of the 2022 season with a 2-0 falter against Millersville on Wednesday evening inside Eiler-Martin Stadium.
The Warriors (3-5, 2-1 PSAC East) fall for the first time during the conference season. The Marauders improve to 4-1-3, 2-0-2 on the season.
Millersville recorded goals in the 35th and 75th minute of play to earn the victory.
Notables
- Scoring goals for the Marauders were Zander Leik and Christian Vorcheimer. Vorcheimer and Mike Kreider each added an assist.
- The Warriors led 20-15 and 11-10 on shots on goal.
- Both keepers played well in goal, with Millersville's Bobby Bosch making 11 saves, while reigning PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week Brayden Evans posted eight stops.
- Millersville held a slim 5-4 advantage on corner kicks.
- Colby Raymond registered four of ESU's 11 shots on goal. Ethan Flickinger also put multiple shots on goal with two.
- The Marauders' Cody Scully was charged with a yellow card in the first half.
How It Happened
- 35' | Off a throw in, a Warrior was able to head the ball back out of danger to the initial player that threw in the ball. The Marauder would instantly kick the ball back into play, as Vorcheimer was able to get a head on the pass and Leik  was able to clean up the pass with a shot to the upper-left corner.
- 75' | Vorcheimer was able to put his own shot on goal in the 75th minute of action. Kreider was able to sneak a crossing pass in between a pair of Warrior defenders, as Vorcheimer was able to rocket a shot pass the diving Warrior goalkeeper.
