EAST STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg University field hockey senior back Olivia Breen has been tabbed as the PSAC Defensive Athlete of the Week, announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Breen has been an anchor on the back line to help the third-ranked Warriors start the season 2-0, holding opponents to zero goals and just two total shots on net. Despite playing on the defensive end, the senior scored a pair of goals in a 6-0 victory over Assumption on Sunday after entering the contest with just one career score across 28 games.
The Stroudsburg native earned the honors for the first time in her career wearing the red and black while also becoming the first Warrior this season to garner a weekly award.
With today's game against Molloy postponed, ESU turns their attention to another nationally ranked opponent in No. 6 Saint Anselm. The Warriors and Hawks square off on Saturday at 1 p.m. from Grappone Stadium.
