Ryan Weise's fourth 30-point scoring effort of the season, the East Stroudsburg women's basketball team pulled away from Shepherd, 69-54, on Wednesday evening inside the Butcher Center.
The Warriors snap their two-game losing streak to improve to 9-7 on the season and 5-5 in the conference, while revenging their pair of losses a year ago to the Rams, who drop to 0-15 overall and 0-10 in the PSAC.
After 12 points in the first half, Weise exploded for 18 in the final two periods to finish with a game-high 30 points. The Allentown, N.J. native went 12-of-23 from the floor and 6-of-16 beyond the arc to go with three rebounds and six assists.

- Through 16 games, Weise is averaging 18.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.7 steals while shooting 47.5% overall, 50.0% from three-point range and 81.1% from the charity stripe
- Coming into the night with an NCAA DII leading 55 three pointers, the Allentown, N.J. native continued her quest of the single season record of 63 by Maryellen Onofre (2005-06) as the graduate student is up to 61 makes
- Dating back to 1985-86, Weise matched ESU hall of famer Stacy Perryman's record for 30-point games in a career with six
- Sophomore Izzy Vogel added 10 points, which including going 6-of-8 from the free throw line, while adding five rebounds, three assists and a block
- Shyla Sanford registered six points, a trio of boards, two assists and a steal while Katie Geisler finished with six points and five rebounds
- In a season-high 38 minutes, Carley Adams registered four points, four assists and matched her career-high with three steals
- ESU went 25-of-59 (42.4%) from the floor and 7-of-24 (29.2%) from beyond the arc
- The Rams were held to just 15-of-58 (25.9%) from the field and 7-of-19 (36.8%) from long distance
- The teams combined to shoot 45 free throws as Shepherd finished 17-of-26 (65.4%) while the ESU was 12-of-19 (63.2)
- Cara Minor paced the Rams with 16 points and seven boards while Madison Mertz finished with eight points and five rebounds. Peyton Grant and Meghan Shipley combined for 14 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
- ESU committed a season-low nine turnovers compared to 18 for Shepherd, which the Warriors turned into 21 points
- On the glass, the Rams out-rebounded the Warriors, 47-37, and pulled down 19 boards on the offensive end compared to eight for ESU
How It Happened
- The Rams go out to an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter before the Warriors answered with a 9-2 run to even the score at 9-9 headed into the media timeout. It was back and forth over the final four-plus minutes of the period as ESU edged Shepherd, 6-4, to grab a 15-13 advantage.
- The teams swapped buckets to open the second quarter as the Warriors maintained a one-point lead over the Rams, 23-22, at the 5:37 mark. ESU flipped the switch over a 4:53 span to close the half as the Warriors used a 10-2 spurt to build a 33-24 advantage over Shepherd.
- Shepherd got back into a rhythm to begin the second half outscoring the Warriors, 9-6, to trim their deficit to 39-33 with 4:46 on the clock. ESU and the Rams would trade shots the rest of the way as the Warriors ultimately had a 48-41 lead going into the final 10 minutes
- To start the fourth quarter, Shepherd scored six of the first 10 points to pull back within a handful at 52-47. However, it's the closest the Rams would get the rest of the way as the Warriors proceed to go on a 10-0 run, which included seven points from Weise, to grab their largest lead of the game at 62-47. ESU and Shepherd each scored seven points during the final 2:48 which earned the Warriors a 69-54 victory.
