Anderson’s NCAA Provisional Mark Highlights Men’s Track & Field at Gulden Invitational

LEWISBURG – Donavan Anderson continued to impress as the freshman recorded his second NCAA provisional mark of the season to go along with six additional PSAC qualifying times and marks for the East Stroudsburg University men's track and field team, who competed at the Gulden Invitational, hosted by Bucknell on Saturday at Gerhard Fieldhouse.  

Anderson notched his second NCAA provisional mark in as many weeks with his performance in the triple jump, while also shattering Brandon Hillman's freshman record which stood since 2009. Additionally, Anderson owns the PSAC's top marks in both the long and triple jumps. Among all jumpers in NCAA Division II, Anderson ranks sixth in the triple jump and 11th in the long jump. 

Six different Warriors registered six additional PSAC qualifying marks including, Brian McGarrity (5,000m), Landon Boyle (5,000m), Robert Plumb (pole vault), Anderson (triple jump), Jack Gorham (triple jump), Sherwin Stewart (triple jump).

Running Highlights
The Warriors had a pair of runners advance to the finals in the 60m hurdles as Kobe Jenkins took third with a time of 8.49, followed by Caleb Carney in sixth at 9.04.

In the 200m, ESU was paced by Raul Esteves as the senior finished in fifth after crossing the line in 22.92.

The Warriors notched a pair of top-eight finishers in the 400m as Zandrew Bowe took sixth with a time of 51.73, while Ryan Ditty was eighth at 51.91.

McGarrity recorded his second PSAC qualifying time of the indoor season in 5000m as the sophomore took eighth with a time of 15:37.48. With the conversion, Boyle posted a conference qualifying time in the event after crossing the line in 15:48.88 (15:38.83) to take 13th.

ESU had a pair of relay teams compete in the 4x400m as Carney, Ditty, Liam Beifus and Jaylen Morrison grabbed a fourth place finish at 3:28.67, while Trey Boyd, Bowe, Evan Clark and Josh Rand were right behind in fifth with a time of 3:32.74.

Field Event Highlights
The highlight of the day for ESU in the field events was Anderson, Gorham and Stewart each recording a PSAC qualifying mark in the triple jump. Anderson captured first place in the event after notching the third longest leap in school history at 15.15m (49-8 ½). Gorham ended up taking fourth after jumping 13.72m (45-0 ¼), while Stewart was in sixth at 13.17m (43-2 ½).

On his way to a fifth place finish in the pole vault, Plumb cleared the bar at PSAC qualifying height of 4.30m (14-1 ¼).

The Warriors had a trio of top-10 finishers in the shot put as Cole Gorham led the way in third with a mark of 15.71m (15-6 ½), followed by Anthony Voto in eighth at 14.94m (49-0 ¼), while Isaac Almoney was right behind in ninth with a throw of 14.77m (48-5 ½).

Almoney returned with a strong performance in the weight throw as he finished fifth with the sixth-best throw in program history at 17.08m (56-0 ½). Daryn Blackwell was right behind in sixth after recording a mark of 16.59m (54-5 ¼), and Voto took ninth with a throw of 14.96m (49-1).

In the high jump, Aaron Sanchez was fourth after clearing the bar at 1.90m (6-2 ¾) and Daniel Smith finished tied for seventh with a height of 1.85m (6-0 ¾).

Gorham was just shy of a PSAC qualifying mark in the long jump on his way to a fifth place finish after leaping 6.65m (21-10).
