Jenkins Wins 60m Hurdles on Day One of Bison Open & Multi

LEWISBURG – Highlighted by a first place finish from Kobe Jenkins in the 60m hurdles, the East Stroudsburg University men's track and field team opened the Bison Open and Multi, hosted by Bucknell on Friday evening inside Gerhard Fieldhouse.  

Heptathlon Highlights
Following the first four events of the heptathlon, Caleb Carney leads a trio of Warriors in 10th place with 2285 points, followed by Daniel Daley in 13th (2245) and Bryan Rodrigues in 14th (2199).

The trio of Warriors opened the afternoon with the 60m as Rodrigues (7.45) led the way in 11th, followed by Carney (7.55) in 12th and Daley (7.61) in 13th.

In the long jump, Rodrigues was ESU's top finisher in eighth as the sophomore recorded a leap of 6.04m (19-9 ¾), while Daley took 14th at 5.78m (18-11 ¾) and Carney came in 16th with a mark of 5.40m (17-8 ¾).

Carney led the way for the Warriors in the shot put, finishing in a tie for fourth with a mark of 10.37m (34-0 ¼). Daley was next for ESU in eighth at 9.95m (32-7 ¾) and Rodrigues took 13th with a throw of 8.62m (28-3 ½).

ESU wrapped up the first half of the heptathlon by competing in the high jump as Carney paced the Warriors in fourth after clearing the bar at 1.79m (5-10 ½). Daley finished in a tie for ninth at 1.70m (5-7) and Rodrigues placed in a tie for 15th (1.61m – 5-3 ¼).

Running Highlights
After advancing to the finals in the 60m hurdles, Jenkins won the event for the Warriors with a time of 8.35, which ranks as the eight fastest in program history, while Joshua Rand followed in third at a personal-best time of 8.47.

Raul Esteves posted the Warriors' lone top-10 finish in the 200m. coming in seventh with a time of 22.74 while Ryan Ditty was 12th after crossing the line in 23.15.

Field Event Highlights
In the pole vault, Robert Plumb recorded ESU's highest finish in a tie for second after clearing the bar at 4.30m (14-1 ¼) and Micah Cooper was tied for fifth with a mark of 4.15m (13-7 ¼).
