Warriors Add Six PSAC Qualifying Marks to Conclude Bison Open & Multi

LEWISBURG – Jack Gorham (long jump), Ryan Ditty (400m) Brian McGarrity (3000m), Landon Boyle (3000m, Luke Valdevit (3000m) and Bryan Rodrigues (60m hurdles) each notched PSAC automatic qualifying marks in their respective events as the East Stroudsburg University men's track and field team wrapped up the Bison Open and Multi, hosted by Bucknell on Saturday at Gerhard Fieldhouse.  

Additionally, freshman Donavan Anderson captured first place in the long jump for the second straight week.

Heptathlon Highlights

Wrapping up the final three events of the heptathlon, Caleb Carney led a trio of Warriors in fifth place with 4220 points, followed by Rodrigues in ninth (3972) and Daniel Daley in 11th (3719)

The Warriors resumed the heptathlon with the 60m hurdles as Rodrigues was the runner-up with a PSAC automatic qualifying time of 8.86 while Carney followed in third at 8.91. Daley secured an eighth place finish with a time of 9.65.

In the pole vault, ESU went 3-4-5 as Carney took third with a height of 3.41m (11-2 ¼), followed by Rodrigues in fourth at 3.21m (10-6 ¼) and Daley in a tie for fifth after clearing the bar at 3.01m (9-10 ½).

ESU closed out the heptathlon with the 1000m as Carney took eighth with a time of 2:55.43, while Rodrigues (10th – 3:07.96) and Daley (11th – 3:17.12) rounded out the finishes.

Running Highlights

McGarrity registered his third PSAC automatic qualifying time of the indoor season with an 8:48.35 in the 3000m while also taking sixth.  Boyle grabbed a 10th place finish after notching a conference qualifying time of 8:52.75 and Valdevit took 15th with a PSAC automatic time of 8:55.25.

After advancing to the finals in 60m, Anderson finished in a tie for fifth after crossing the line in 7.09.

In the 400m, Ditty ran a conference qualifying time of 50.97 on his way to a fourth place finish and Zandrew Bowe took sixth after clocking a 51.19.  

The Warriors finished off the day on the track with a second place finish in the 4x400m as the relay squad of Zandrew Bowe, Ditty, Raul Esteves and Zandray Thompson registered a 3:28.50.

Field Event Highlights

Anderson recorded a leap of 7.26m (23-10) on his way to a first place finish and Gorham took fourth with a PSAC automatic qualifying and season-best mark of 6.79m (22-3 ½).

ESU recorded a pair of top-10 finishes in the high jump, led by Aaron Sanchez in a tie for third at 1.90m (6-2 ¾), while Daniel Smith took t-10th after clearing the bar at 1.80m (5-10 ¾).

The Warriors had an impressive showing in the shot put as sophomore Cole Gorham took third with the third best throw in program history at 16.49m (54-1 ¼). Freshman Anthony Voto came in eighth after recording a mark of 15.24m (50-0) and Isaac Almoney finished 10th at 14.70m (48-2 ¾).

Senior Daryn Blackwell paced the Warriors in the weight throw, placing sixth with a spot of 16.69m (55-7 ¾). Almoney and Voto returned for their second event of the day, taking seventh and eighth respectively with throws of 16.87m (55-4 ¼) and 16.63m (54-6 ¾).

ESU closed out the Bison Open & Multi in triple jump as the Warriors had Sherwin Stewart (13.08m – 42-11) finish eighth and Aaron Sanchez (12.75m – 41-10) take 10th.
