MILLERSVILLE – Déjà vu! For the second time in the last three games, graduate student
Nicole Krozser scored the game-winning goal to help #1 East Stroudsburg University field hockey top #8 Millersville, 2-1, in a double overtime thriller on Wednesday evening from Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium.
The Boonton, N.J. native has a knack for scoring game-winners as Krozser is up to three this season and nine for her career.
The Warriors pushed their win streak to four games, improved to 9-1 overall and 3-0 in the conference while the Marauders fell to 6-4 on the season and 1-3 in the PSAC.
Dating back to the PSAC Tournament in 2017, ESU has now defeated Millersville in eight consecutive meetings. The Warriors hold a 42-24-1 advantage over the Marauders in the all-time series which dates back to 1959.
Notables
- Senior Madison Kline found the back of the net one minute into the game to put the Warriors ahead 1-0. Kline recorded her sixth goal of the season and 21st of her career
- Krozser registered her team-high seventh goal of the season
- Morgan Lennon tied the game for Millersville at the 55:11 mark off a pass from Ohayiya Nogoduka
- Reigning PSAC Defensive Athlete of the Week Amy Supey (9-1) made a career-high nine saves in the victory
- Despite suffering the loss, Millersville had the edge in shots (15-12), shots on goal (10-7) and penalty corners (13-11)
- Since a 4-3 loss to Pace in overtime (9/13), the Warriors have outscored their opponents 12-2 and pitched two shutouts
- ESU is now 34-12 all-time when ranked as the No. 1 in NCAA Division II, dating back to 2004
