BOSTON, Mass. – The East Stroudsburg University men's track & field team added an NCAA provisional time, a new PSAC qualifier and a pair of top-five program marks at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, hosted by Boston on Saturday at the Track & Tennis Center.
The Warriors competed against primarily Division I opponents for the second straight day.
Tyler Boone had an impressive showing in the 400m as the sophomore clocked an NCAA provisional time as well as the third fastest mark in school history at 48.51 on his way to 33rd place finish out of 246 runners.
In the 200m, Raul Esteves ran a personal-best mark of 22.25 which ranks tied for fifth all-time in program history.
Recording his third PSAC automatic qualifying time of the indoor season was freshman Zandray Thompson in the 400m.
Running Highlights
Kobe Jenkins got the busy day underway for the Warriors on the track as the junior was the runner-up in the 60m hurdles with the fastest time in Heat 1 at 8.45, while freshman Joshua Rand finished in a tie for sixth at 8.63.
Esteves also took 10th in the 60m dash after matching his season-best time at 7.07.
Additionally, in the 400m, Ryan Ditty recorded a personal-best time at 50.25, while Zandrew Bowe posted a season-best mark of 50.00.
The Warriors smashed their season-best performance in the 4x400m relay as the quartet of Caleb Carney, Daniel Daley, Emmanuel Gitonga and Rand clocked the eighth best time in program history at 3:19.03 to take 20th.
In the 800m, Alejandro Paez and Gitonga both recorded season-best times of 1:59.23 and 1:59.27, respectively.
Field Highlights
Donavan Anderson continued to impress in the long jump for the Warriors as the freshman took sixth with a mark of 7.06m (23-2). Anderson was back in the sandpit for the triple jump, earning a seventh place finish after leaping 7.06m (23-2).
In the high jump, Aaron Sanchez finished just outside of the top-10 in 11th after leaping over bar at 1.94m (6-4 ¼) and Daniel Smith was not far behind in 14th at 1.84m (6-0 ½).
Cole Gorham paced a trio of Warriors in the shot put as the sophomore secured a ninth place finish with a throw of 15.31m (50-2 ¾).
Micah Cooper secured a 13th place finish in the pole vault after clearing a height of 4.30m (14-1 ¼).
In the weight throw, Daryn Blackwell recorded a 13th place finish with a toss of 16.38m (53-9).
